Introduction
In FleetWatcher, shifts are not permanently deleted or "canceled" in the traditional sense. Instead, depending on whether the shift is happening now or is scheduled for later, you will either Deactivate it or Archive it.
Note for Dispatch Users: If you are using FleetWatcher Dispatch, canceling a dispatch order is a separate process. This article covers removing shifts for all users, including those who do not use the Dispatch module.
How to Cancel a Shift for Today (Deactivate)
If a shift is currently active and appears on your Today's Shifts page, but you no longer want to track it:
Go to MMS > Shifts > Today’s Shifts.
Locate the Shift Card you wish to cancel.
Click the Deactivate Shift button on the right side of the card.
Result: The shift is immediately removed from the Today's Shifts view.
Note: Deactivating a shift prevents it from appearing in Completed Shifts.
How to Cancel a Future or Scheduled Shift (Archive)
If you need to remove a shift that has not yet started from your Scheduled Shifts view:
Go to MMS > Shifts > Add/Edit Shifts.
Locate the shift in the Shifts or Future Shifts section on the left sidebar.
Click the Shift Name to open the shift details.
In the When section, locate the End Date.
Change the End Date to Yesterday (to remove it immediately) or Today (to have it archive at the end of the day).
Scroll to the bottom and click Edit Shift to save.
Result: The shift will move to the Archived Shifts section and will no longer appear on the Scheduled Shifts page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I permanently delete a shift? No. FleetWatcher does not allow users to permanently delete shifts to preserve historical data. Only FleetWatcher Support can permanently delete a record. Adjusting the End Date or Deactivating is the standard way to "cancel" active scheduling.
Does canceling a shift delete my data? No. If a shift is moved to Archived Shifts, it retains all associated data, including tickets, notes, and KPIs, for historical reporting.
What if I accidentally canceled the wrong shift? You can find archived shifts in the sidebar under the Archived Shifts caret dropdown. You can click the shift name and adjust the End Date back to a future date to restore it to your active schedule.
