Device Ping/Event Icons:
This article explains the update types received from devices — such as Heartbeat or Engine Running — and the icons that visually represent them.
These icons appear primarily on breadcrumb trails and in Driver Safety Reports, and may also be used in select other reports to show asset activity.
Use this guide to quickly understand what each icon means and how it relates to equipment behavior.
Event Icon | Event | Event Definition. |
Engine Turned On | Equipment engine transitions to ON. | |
Engine Running | Equipment engine remains ON. Standard reporting intervals are once per:

Engine Off | Equipment engine transitions to OFF. | |
Transport Begin | Equipment transitions into TRANSPORT MODE.

Transport Update | Equipment remains in TRANSPORT MODE (updates at regular reporting interval). | |
Transport End | Equipment transitions out of TRANSPORT MODE, either with an ENGINE ON event or:

Counter/Timer 1 | FleetWatcher device recognizes either a load count or supplemental time event from the equipment. | |
Transition to Sleep | FleetWatcher device transitions to SLEEP MODE (varies by model and config). | |
Heartbeat Sleep | FleetWatcher device sends HEARTBEAT SLEEP transmissions every 24 hours of inactivity. | |
Battery Low Alert | Equipment battery voltage drops below acceptable threshold (11v for 12v battery; 22v for 24v battery by default). | |
| Battery Disconnected | FleetWatcher device disconnected from equipment power. |
| Battery Connected | FleetWatcher device connected to equipment power. |
| Pinged via UDP | FleetWatcher device transmissions that do not apply to equipment activity/inactivity. |
| No Status | The FleetWatcher device has not transmitted since the time of install, and has nothing to report. |
| AEMP | An hourly update from the AEMP feed. |
Initial Power Up | Device receives initial source of power during installation; device has reconnected after losing all external and internal power; device is experiencing power issues and requires physical attention. |
