Phase Code Matching

Use phase codes to separate and report material quantities within a shift based on work phases, tickets, or billing needs.

Introduction

Phase codes help segment load counts and tonnage within a single shift for tracking, billing, or internal reporting. When enabled, FleetWatcher can match phase codes entered in the shift setup with those on incoming scale tickets, creating a secondary level of ticket grouping beyond the Project or JobID.

Navigation

To use this feature:

Go to: MMS > Shifts > Add/Edit Shifts

Setting Up Phase Code Matching

  1. In the What section of the shift, enter one or more Phase Codes

    • Separate multiple codes with commas

    • This is a freeform field (not a dropdown)

  2. Check the box labeled Match Using Phase Code

    • FleetWatcher will now compare incoming scale tickets’ phase codes to those you entered

Only scale tickets with matching phase codes will be included on this shift

Optional: Override Phase Code from Scale Tickets on VSTs

  • Enable this checkbox if you want the shift’s Phase Code to override the one from the scale ticket on Virtual Shift Tickets (VSTs)

  • Useful when trucks are working multiple shifts or ticketing inconsistently

Use Cases

  • Separate paving vs. base material within a shift

  • Assign load counts by sub-phase (e.g., lane 1, lane 2)

  • Support DOT projects that require breakdown by work segment

Notes

  • This feature does not replace matching by Project or JobID — it adds an extra filter

  • Phase codes appear in VST exports and can be used in KPI calculations when filtered correctly

  • Phase Code logic applies only to scale tickets — it does not affect GPS or geozone cycle tracking
