The GS-AT2 is a basic, battery-powered location tracking device. It does not include engine monitoring, LED indicators, or advanced wiring. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to diagnose and resolve common issues related to device location reporting.
1. Check the Power Source (AA Batteries)
The GS-AT2 runs on 3 AA batteries. If the device is not reporting as expected, battery life should be the first thing to check.
When were the batteries last replaced?
Are the batteries properly seated in the compartment?
Use new, lithium AA batteries (avoid mixing brands or using rechargeable unless specified by the manufacturer).
Tip: Cold environments can reduce battery performance. Use lithium batteries for better cold-weather operation.
2. Ensure Proper Device Placement
The GS-AT2 must not be installed under metal surfaces.
Confirm that the device is placed in a location with clear access to the sky for optimal GPS and cellular connectivity.
The device can be placed under plastic, rubber, or fiberglass, but not inside fully enclosed metal compartments (like steel boxes or tool bins).
Reposition the device if necessary and re-test.
3. Trigger a Manual Location Report
The GS-AT2 includes a button that allows you to send a location packet on demand.
To test manual reporting:
Press the report button once.
Wait 2–5 minutes and check the mobile app or portal.
Look for:
A new location report
A timestamp indicating the last communication
If no report appears:
Move the device to an area with better GPS visibility and repeat.
Check or replace the batteries before trying again.
4. Check Reporting Frequency
The GS-AT2 is typically configured to report at set intervals (e.g., once every 6, 12, or 24 hours) to conserve battery life.
Understand your configured reporting interval before expecting real-time updates.
Use the manual button press if you need to force a check-in.
5. Still Not Reporting? Try the Following:
Replace the AA batteries with fresh ones, even if current ones are relatively new.
Relocate the device to a position with better exposure to open sky.
Manually trigger a packet using the button.
Wait at least 5 minutes and then check the app or portal.
If the device still does not report after these steps, proceed to Step 6.
6. Contact Support
If the device continues to fail after replacing batteries and checking placement:
Please provide the following when contacting support:
GS-AT2 serial number
Last known report time
Battery replacement date
Description of the issue
Mounting location (e.g., dashboard, under seat, toolbox, etc.)
Quick Tips for Best Performance
