Objective:
Use this feature to ensure drivers receive well-formatted, clickable map links for all source and destination addresses in their dispatch text messages, even for multi-stop loads.
The Feature at a Glance:
Previously, when dispatchers sent manual orders with multiple locations, the addresses in the driver's SMS notification often appeared as plain text. This forced drivers to manually copy and paste locations into their navigation apps.
This update ensures that all addresses—including those for "Extra Locations"—are sent in a standardized postal format (Street, City, State, and ZIP). By providing the full address string, mobile devices (both iOS and Android) can now automatically recognize the text as a tappable map link, allowing drivers to start navigation with a single touch.
How to Use This:
Navigate to: Manual Dispatch
Configure Projects: Ensure that all projects associated with the dispatch (Source, Job, and Extra Locations) have complete address information entered in the system, including the Street, City, State, and ZIP code.
Create Dispatch: Set up a manual dispatch order for a truck, selecting multiple locations as required by the haul.
Send Notification: Finalize and send the dispatch. The system will automatically generate an SMS containing the full address details for every stop.
Driver View: The driver will receive an SMS. Within the message body, each location will be preceded by Addr: followed by the full postal address.
Launch Navigation: The driver can simply tap the underlined address text within their messaging app to open their default GPS or maps application.
Pro-Tip / Troubleshooting:
Address Accuracy is Key: For the "clickable" link to appear, the mobile device needs to recognize the text as a valid location. If a link does not appear, double-check that the project in FleetWatcher has a valid ZIP code and State; incomplete addresses may be treated as standard text by the driver's phone.
