Introduction.
Custom Project Types allow you to categorize your projects in a way that aligns with your workflow. These categories can range from general (e.g., Earthmoving or Yard) to specific (e.g., Site Prep or Mill and Fill). This feature helps classify (and thereby report against) your projects based on your own project types
Navigation:
To access this feature:
Go to: Manage > Projects > Create a Custom Project Type.
Create a Custom Project Type:
Follow these steps to create a custom project type.
Enter a Project Type in the Custom Project Type text box, (Examples: Paving, Milling, Site Development)
Use the dropdown to select 1 or 6 categories.
Category*: It is important to categorize your Custom Project Types correctly in order to make the Virtual Shift Tickets in Fleetwatcher’s MDS system functional. Asphalt Plant, Aggregate Plant, Job Site, and Dump Site are used for building Virtual Shift Tickets.
Other: is available for those project types that do not fall under the other categories or that should not be reflected on your Virtual Shift Tickets. Examples: Shop, Staging Ares.
Unauthorized: Stops are used to mark locations where trucks are unauthorized to stop during working hours. This will show RED on the LCA graph and automatically deducted time on Virtual Shift Tickets.
Click Save.
A message will display at the top of the screen “Project Type has been successfully created.”
Duplicate Entry Note: When creating custom project types, FleetWatcher will notify users if the project type already exists by displaying a message at the top of the window. This feature helps prevent duplicate entries.

Virtual Shift Ticket Note:
Your Custom Project Types allow you to tell the FleetWatcher system which types of projects need to be considered for the Virtual Shift Ticket. Because this is an MDS-specific feature, there are certain classifications of projects that we recommend setting up right away. Asphalt Plants, Aggregate Plants, Job Sites and Dump Sites are project types we recommend setting up to ensure that they are captured as sources or destinations by the Virtual Shift Tickets.
The Custom Project Type name can be whatever you call the work being done (i.e. Paving, Milling, Asphalt Paving, Earthmoving, etc.), but the Category is what will directly affect your Virtual Shift Tickets. In order to have an asphalt plant, for example, be accounted for as a source in the Virtual Shift Tickets system, you will need to have a project type to classify your asphalt plants. That type will then need to have a Category of “Asphalt Plant” selected in the drop down.
Note: This is a required field. Other selections are as follows:
• Asphalt Plant
• Aggregate Plant
• Job Site
• Dump Site
• Other Project
The categories that are captured by the Virtual Shift Tickets are Asphalt Plant, Aggregate Plant, Job Site and Dump Site. Other Projects will not be considered for Virtual Shift Tickets calculations, and are there to allow you to categorize those projects and geo-zones that are not applicable to your Material Delivery (i.e. shops, truck yards, etc.).
