The following information will provide detailed information about each option when entering equipment into the FleetWatcher equipment list.

To access this feature:

Go to: Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Equipment.

+Add New Equipment: Click here to add individual pieces of equipment.

Asset Name*: How the equipment is identified (Note: 40 character limit).

Manufacturer*, Type*, and Model* are all required fields. The dropdown list is populated from a collective list entered on the FleetWatcher database. Once you select a manufacturer (Caterpillar) the Type will only display related Caterpillar types (Dump Truck). Then select the Model.

NOTE: Most major manufacturers are available. If one is missing contact your manager.

Year and Serial Number are optional fields. It is recommended to enter as much information about each piece of equipment. This can help with troubleshooting devices and connecting cables.

(NOTE: Important for 303 Devices).

Geozone Radius (Feet): This is the inner radius of a Paver/Mill. Recommended setting is 150 feet to start and adjust if needed. The geozone will allow you to set Off Road equipment as a source or destination.

Requirements: Equipment listed as Off Road with a device that reports every 30 seconds.

FPM Non-Paving Threshold: Set a maximum speed that would not be included in the FPM Calculation. Example: If you set the threshold to 5 MPH, any speed over 5 MPH would not be included in the FPM Calculation.

Only applies to Pavers: The system-wide default FPM Repositioning Threshold will be used if Nothing is entered. (100 FpM).

Company: The dropdown is populated from Add/Edit Equipment Companies.

NOTE: Identifying your equipment with the correct company provides restrictive access under Add/Edit Users.

UDF 1 - 16 (User Defined Fields): Free-form fields for extra information that you would like displayed on reports. Common uses: License plate, assigned operator.

UDF Labels: Navigate to Manage > Company > Edit Information to add UDF Labels

NOTE: Recommended that if you choose to use UDF's be consistent. (ie If UDF1 is License Plate, use the same field for all equipment)

Account Asset Name: Used if the office identifies equipment under a different name.

NOTE: Used with VST's

Equipment Aliases: Used to capture alternative equipment names that might be used at the scale house.

After adding/saving new Equipment, Edit the Equipment to Add Alias Names, including any Scale Asset Name(s).

NOTE: Alias Names will appear in the Equipment Aliases column.

IFTA* (International Fuel Tax Agreement): is a fuel tax collection and sharing agreement for the redistribution of fuel taxes paid by interstate commercial carriers.

NOTE: IFTA Summary will calculate the number of miles driven in each state.

Bus Odometer Offset (Miles): field allows customers to enter an offset so that FleetWatcher reports will display the same odometer mileage as seen on the Equipment’s dash (built-in) odometer. This is particularly important for mechanics servicing the Equipment. The new field will accept positive or negative numbers so mileage may be added or subtracted from the Bus odometer readings stored and reported in FleetWatcher.

If the Bus is reporting 50 miles but the dash odometer shows 10, enter -40 in the Bus Odometer Offset field. Conversely, if the Bus is reporting 10 miles and the dash displays 50, simply enter an offset of 40. NOTE: For metric customers, this field accepts and applies the offset in kilometers rather than miles.

Bus Hour Meter Offset (Hours): Enter a positive or negative number with up to two decimal places (e.g., -12.34) reflecting the hours to be offset. Once saved, the entered value will be rounded to one decimal place and the reported hour meter will be offset accordingly.

NOTE: The Bus Offset ONLY applies to Equipment with Bus-Connected Devices installed (coupled). The purpose is for Equipment whose Bus reports a different mileage than the dash odometer. This can happen if the engine was tested and logged some mileage prior to installation in the Equipment. In these cases, the Bus-Odometer reading will always be slightly higher than the dash odometer. Another possible cause of Bus and dash odometer mismatches are when major components (engine, computer) are replaced. In this case, the Bus odometer may report fewer miles than those recorded by the dash odometer.

Truck DOT Number and Overnight Permit Number: Support the VETA MDMS API Integration for MNDOT. The fields are only required if equipment is working on a VETA DOT project.

Fuel Capacity (Gallons): The tanks usable capacity.

Gross Vehicle Weight (Pounds): is the weight of the empty vehicle plus the weight of the maximum payload that the vehicle was designed to carry.

Equipment Max Vehicle Weight (Tons): This field is intended to hold the max vehicle weight when loaded (vehicle weight + load weight) in tons (or metric tons for metric customers). This is also known as the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Once entered, this weight value is reported on the eTicket Summary Report Sheet.

Hopper Size - Pavers Only (ft3): Enter the capacity of the hopper for DYC options.

Custom Status: Details on Add/Edit Equipment Statues.

Equipment Status: Set the equipment status to Active or Retired.

To Email / CC Email: are intended to hold addresses for recipients of emailed Scale Tickets. This will often include the Driver email address so they will have an E-Ticket to show a Foreman, DOT Reps or other State officials that may want details about the load. Users may enter related email addresses. Use the Edit button to add addresses to existing Equipment and the + Add New Equipment button to add email addresses for new Equipment additions.

To Email: Enter a single email address.

CC Email: Provides space for additional emails, such as the Broker or another resource associated with the Driver’s (Equipment) Company. Use comma-separated emails in the CC Email field.
