Introduction
The Assign Device to Equipment LEGACY page allows the user to couple and decouple a BUS connected or Hardwired device to an asset within the FleetWatcher system.

Assign Device to Equipment
The Assign Device to Equipment page displays Devices on the left and Assets on the right. Follow these steps to couple a device to an asset:
Search for the Device:
Open the Device dropdown menu to find the ESN.
Use the search box at the top of the dropdown or scroll to locate the ESN.
Select the ESN and click Find Device.
Check Device Status:
The screen will display a message:
"[ESN] is not currently coupled"
or "[ESN] is currently coupled to 'Asset Name.'"
Couple the Device:
Click the blue Couple Device button.
A screen will appear with the ESN details and an Asset Name dropdown.
Select the Asset:
Use the dropdown to find and select the asset name.
Click the blue Choose Asset button.
Enter Installation Details:
Select the date when the FleetWatcher device was physically installed on the equipment. You may backdate this by 3 days, if needed. The time defaults to 00:00 GMT of the date you select.
Enter in a Couple Note to let fellow FleetWatcher users who completed the coupling request. This field will default to the long date/time and logged in user name.
Enter the Physical Hour Meter, Lifetime Hour Meter and Odometer of the machine at the time of device installation. For machines without odometers or hour meters, the fields will default to 0.
Supp Timer 1 and Counter will automatically be enabled. If the Load Counter wire is not installed, no data will accrue.
Idle Timer will automatically be enabled. If you are installing the Fleetwatcher device on stationary equipment (i.e. an arrow board or generator), please uncheck this box.
Finalize the Coupling:
Click Couple Device.
A confirmation window will appear.
Click OK to complete the process.
Decoupling a Device.
Selection:
Choose ESN or Asset Name from the dropdown.
Verification:
Ensure details match, then select “Decouple.”
Removal Date:
Enter the removal date (backdate up to 3 days). Time defaults to 00:00 GMT.
Documentation:
Provide a Decouple Note for clarity.
Finalization:
Click “Decouple Device” to finalize the process.
