AaaD: App as a Device – This describes the FleetWatcher Driver App when functioning as a replacement for a traditional FleetWatcher Device (ex. GS-620). This feature is only available for a cost. Contact your Sales Rep for more info.
ACL: Access Control List – ACLs are security privileges/restrictions assigned to user accounts.
CLA: Cigarette Lighter Adapter.
BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy.
Bus: Short for Omnibus – Refers to the Equipment’s electronic/computer interface. The Bus connection is used by certain FleetWatcher Device models. It’s also used by mechanics to pull data, like diagnostic codes from the vehicle.
CMS: Construction Management Solution.
CSV: Comma Separated Values This is a common file output type that opens readily in MS Excel.
Device: Knows where it is and communicates directly to FleetWatcher. These are the traditional devices FleetWatcher has employed for years (i.e., GS-123c, GS-283, GS-340e, GS-365, GS-450, GS-AT2). They may be hardwired, BUS connected, or CLA devices. They are coupled to Equipment in FleetWatcher. Device also includes a phone or tablet running the Driver App with a valid driver logged in and in Driving or Operating mode.
Beacon: A FleetWatcher BLE device that doesn't know where it is, just broadcasts “I exist, and this is my identifier.” Nearby mobile devices running the FleetWatcher Field App, as well as the GS-283 and GS-364 devices that receive that beacon-broadcast, add location-context and transmit that info to FleetWatcher. These are used to track BLE Asset.
DTC: Diagnostic Trouble Codes – Codes relayed by Equipment via the Bus regarding their operation and health. See Bus above.
MPC: Mainline Paving Calculator.
ESN: Electronic Serial Number.
FpM: Feet per Minute (Metric: MpM Meter per Minute).
FST: Field Service Ticket.
GMT: Greenwich Mean Time (time zone that doesn’t change for daylight savings).
HDOP: Horizontal Dilution Of Precision –A measure of the geometric quality of a GPS satellite configuration in the sky. HDOP is a factor in determining the relative accuracy of a horizontal position. The smaller the HDOP number, the better the geometry.
HoS: Hours of Service.
iOS: Apple Mobile Operating System used on iPhones and iPads.
KPI: Key Performance Indicator.
LCA: Load Cycle Analysis.
MMS: Materials Management Solution (formerly MDS - Materials Delivery Solution).
OBD: On-Board Diagnostics – Similar to J1939 but for light duty cars/trucks. OBD II is the current standard.
PTO: Power Take Off (This is related to FW Devices).
RTA: Real-Time Automation (RTA Map).
TCpT: Trucking Cost per Ton.
UTC: Coordinated Universal Time – This is not a time zone but a time standard. GMT and UTC always reflect the same time.
VST: Virtual Shift Ticket.
VBus: Vehicle Bus – Light Duty Bus.
JBus: J1939 Bus – Heavy Duty Bus.
