Add a Milling Shift (Web)

Create and activate a milling shift using the Add/Edit Shifts page in the web browser.

Introduction

Use this guide to set up a milling shift, where trucks haul material from a mill (as the Source) to a plant or dump site. This ensures accurate tracking of cycle times and load counts throughout the job.


Navigation

To access this feature:

Go to: MMS > Shifts > Add/Edit Shifts


Step-by-step Instructions

1. Info

  1. Enter a Job Name that describes the work

  2. Confirm or select the Company (defaults to parent company)


2. Where

  1. Select the Source Geo-zone (Mill)
    – When a mill is selected, the Source Geo-zone Outer Radius (Feet) is required
    – This radius should cover the mill and one dump truck to ensure accurate tracking on the LCA graph

  2. Select the Destination Geo-zone (e.g., Asphalt Plant or Dump Site)

  3. Select the Project linked to this job
    – Required for scale ticket matching and tracking

3. Who

  1. Select employees working on the shift (optional but recommended)

  2. These names will appear on the shift card and receive First Load alerts


4. When

  1. Choose a Single Day or Date Range

  2. Set the Start and End Times for Day and/or Night period

  3. Check the box for Use Day Period or Use Night Period to display the shift on Scheduled Shifts


5. What

  1. Confirm the Shift Cycle Type is set to MMS Shift
    – This is the default for milling jobs


Activate the Shift

Once all required fields are entered, scroll to the bottom and choose one:

  • Activate Shift – Activates the first shift immediately

  • Save and Activate Later – Save details to schedule later

  • Activate Shift and Order Dispatch – Activates and begins dispatching

Optional: Advanced Settings

These are not required to activate a shift but can enhance tracking and automation:

  • Enable DOT Ticket Submission

  • Use Virtual Shift Tickets (VST)

  • Set KPI Targets
