Introduction
The RPM Distribution Chart helps users identify the typical idle speed of BUS-connected equipment by displaying how frequently the equipment operates at different RPM levels over a selected time period. This report is a key tool for determining the appropriate Idle Threshold RPM.

Purpose
Use this chart to determine the RPM at which equipment most frequently idles. This helps ensure more accurate productivity tracking by correctly separating idle time from productive time.
Report Filters
To generate the report:
Equipment Number: Select the BUS-connected equipment to analyze.
Start Date / End Date: Choose the date range to analyze. A longer date range (e.g., one day or more) is recommended for meaningful results.
RPM Capable: Filter to show all or only settable assets (optional).
Click Generate Report to display the chart or Print Table to export data.
Understanding the Chart
X-Axis (RPM): RPM values grouped in increments (e.g., 1050, 1100, 1150...).
Y-Axis (Frequency): Number of data packets received at each RPM value.
Bars: Represent how frequently the equipment operated at each RPM.
Interpreting Results
The tallest bar on the chart typically represents the idle RPM, as it reflects the most frequently recorded RPM value.
In the example shown, the bar at 1200 RPM is the tallest—suggesting this is the most likely idle range.
Additional groupings (e.g., near 2550–2600 RPM) may represent productive ranges or a high-idle state.
Tip: Some equipment may have two idle behaviors (low-idle and high-idle). If so, you may see multiple peaks in the chart.
Best Practices
Run the report for at least one full day of equipment activity to get an accurate picture.
Use the results in combination with the Equipment RPM Graph to visually validate and set the appropriate Idle Threshold RPM.

If you're unsure where to set the idle threshold on the Equipment RPM Graph, consider running the RPM Distribution Chart first.
The Distribution Chart shows which RPM ranges the equipment most frequently operates in.
The tallest bar typically represents the idle RPM (or a high-idle value if there are two peaks).
Once you identify the ideal idle RPM from the chart, you can:
Manually enter the value in the Idle Threshold RPM field under the Equipment column in the Edit window.
This is especially helpful if the graph view shows “No Data” or if you want to set an exact, data-backed value.
