Introduction
The Driver Safety Settings page allows admins to define how unsafe behaviors like speeding and aggressive driving are tracked and scored. It also includes controls for auto sign-out intervals and driver reassignment behavior when using the FleetWatcher Driver App. These settings can be applied globally or overridden at the Equipment Type level.

Safety Thresholds
FleetWatcher provides default infraction definitions, which you can adjust to match your company’s safety goals.
Speeding (Default Settings)

These can be customized by editing the “Maximum MPH Over Posted Speed” and “Infraction Points” fields on the page.
Aggressive Driving Events (Default Settings)

Note: G-force values are no longer adjustable due to inconsistencies across hardware types.
Equipment Type Overrides
Settings on this page apply to your entire company by default. However, you can create exceptions by navigating to:
Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Custom Equipment Types
Set thresholds and Uncheck “Use Company Defaults”
When an Equipment Type has its own safety thresholds configured, those values will override the company defaults shown here.
This is useful when heavier or specialized equipment requires stricter rules (e.g., Quad-Axle Dump vs Foreman Truck).
Driver App Assignment Behavior
Driver App users can force removal of another driver
When checked, if a driver assigns themselves to a truck assigned to another driver, that truck will automatically be re-assigned.
When unchecked, the active driver or a Fleetwatcher user with appropriate driver assignment privileges must unassign the truck before it may be reassigned.
Auto Sign Out Drivers/Operators
This setting automatically unassigns drivers and operators after a defined period of inactivity.
Enable the checkbox to activate auto sign-out
Use the “Except These Drivers” field to exempt specific users
Set the Auto Sign Out After value in minutes (between 10 and 1440)
Example:
If set to 90, a driver who taps Stop Driving in the Driver App will be unassigned after 90 minutes of inactivity.
How It Works:
When Auto Sign Out is enabled, the system will automatically:
Sign the driver out after they’ve been inactive for longer than your configured time, and
Unassign that driver from the truck they were logged into, so they are no longer shown as driving that vehicle.
For customers using App as a Device, Auto Sign Out can also automatically decouple the driver from the device, so they don’t remain shown as coupled after they’ve been signed out.
