Introduction
The Driver Safety Settings page allows admins to define how unsafe behaviors like speeding and aggressive driving are tracked and scored. It also includes controls for auto sign-out intervals and driver reassignment behavior when using the FleetWatcher Driver App. These settings can be applied globally or overridden at the Equipment Type level.

To access this feature:
Go to: Manage > Driver Safety > Driver Safety Settings
Use This Page To:
Set companywide thresholds and points for speeding and aggressive driving
Customize scoring for different types of driver behavior
Enable or disable auto driver reassignment
Set an automatic sign-out interval for drivers and operators
Exclude specific drivers from automatic sign-out
Apply stricter or looser rules based on Equipment Type
Safety Thresholds
FleetWatcher provides default infraction definitions, which you can adjust to match your company’s safety goals.
📊 Speeding (Default Settings)

Mild | >5 MPH over posted speed | 1 |
Moderate | >10 MPH over posted speed | 2 |
Severe | >20 MPH over posted speed | 3 |
These can be customized by editing the “Maximum MPH Over Posted Speed” and “Infraction Points” fields on the page.
⚠️ Aggressive Driving Events (Default Settings)

Braking | ≥ 0.23 g-force for 1.5+ sec | 2 |
Acceleration | ≥ 0.23 g-force for 1.5+ sec | 2 |
📌 Note: G-force values are no longer adjustable due to inconsistencies across hardware types.
Equipment Type Overrides
Settings on this page apply to your entire company by default. However, you can create exceptions by navigating to:
Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Custom Equipment Types
Set thresholds and Uncheck “Use Company Defaults”
When an Equipment Type has its own safety thresholds configured, those values will override the company defaults shown here.
This is useful when heavier or specialized equipment requires stricter rules (e.g., Quad-Axle Dump vs Foreman Truck).
Driver App Assignment Behavior
🔘 Driver App users can force removal of another driver
When checked, if a driver assigns themselves to a truck assigned to another driver, that truck will automatically be re-assigned.
When unchecked, the active driver or a Fleetwatcher user with appropriate driver assignment privileges must unassign the truck before it may be reassigned.
Auto Sign Out Drivers/Operators
What is Auto Sign Out?
Auto Sign Out (sometimes called “auto unassign”) is an optional safety feature that:
Automatically signs drivers/operators out of equipment after a period of inactivity.
Helps prevent situations where a driver forgets to sign out and appears to still be driving a truck they left hours ago.
Works for:
Drivers using hardware telematics devices
Drivers using App as a Device (AaaD) on their phone
You control this setting on the Driver Safety Settings page.
