Scheduled Shifts & Dispatch Page Overview

This article explains how the page is organized and how navigation works. It does not explain how to dispatch trucks or complete tasks.

Introduction

The Scheduled Shifts & Dispatch page is the main working view for Dispatch. This page is where you view scheduled shifts, see their dispatch status by date, and open a shift to create or edit dispatch activity.

How to access this page

Navigation:

MMS > Dispatch > Dispatch Board

Page layout

The Scheduled Shifts & Dispatch page is made up of three main areas: the page header, action buttons, and the dispatch grid.

Page Header & Navigation

The header contains tools for filtering your view and navigating between dates. Depending on your user permissions, you may see the following options:

Search and Filters

  • Active Only Toggle: When enabled, the board hides inactive shifts and only displays those that are currently "In Progress" or "Ordered."

  • Search Field: Allows you to filter the board by Job Name or keyword.

Note: In FleetWatcher, Job Name and Shift refer to the same thing and are used interchangeably.

Action buttons

On the right side of the header:

  • New

    • Simple Dispatch
Used to send a dispatch request without creating a full shift.

    • Manual Order
Used to create a dispatch order that is not tied to an existing shift.

  • Settings
Opens Dispatch settings such as messaging behavior, notification rules, and dedicated dispatchers.

Dispatch grid

The main area of the page displays a grid made up of rows and columns.

Job Name column

  • The far left column lists the Job Name, which represents the shift.

  • Each row represents one scheduled shift.

Date columns

  • To the right of Job Name are four date columns:

    • Today

    • The next three days

  • Each date cell represents the dispatch status for that shift on that specific day.

  • When a dispatch order is opened, it appears in a panel on the right side of the screen.

Understanding date cell states

Each date cell acts as both a status indicator and an entry point.

The label shown depends on the current state of dispatch for that shift and date.

Common states include:

☀️Activate: “activate a new Day Shift for (Date)”

The shift is not active yet. This is the starting point for dispatch.

🌙Activate: “activate a new Night Shift for (Date)”

The shift is not active yet. This is the starting point for dispatch.

Order = Red

The shift is active, but no dispatch order has been created.

X OF Y Filled = Yellow

A dispatch order exists, and some assignments are complete.

X OF Y Filled = Green

All requested assignments are filled.

Opening a dispatch order from the grid

Clicking a date cell opens the dispatch order for that shift and date.

Important behavior to know:

  • Activate starts the dispatch process.

  • After activation, all other states open the dispatch order panel on the right side of the screen.

  • The dispatch order panel is where all dispatch actions and edits occur.

  • Dispatch orders can be viewed and edited at any time after activation.

Key things to remember

  • This page shows dispatch status by shift and date, not a single workflow step.

  • The date cell label reflects the current state and determines what happens when clicked.

  • Job Name and Shift mean the same thing in FleetWatcher.

  • Most Dispatch actions begin by clicking a date cell for the shift you want to work with.
