Introduction
FleetWatcher provides two dispatch-related checkboxes on the Add/Edit Shifts page that serve very different purposes:
Dispatch Only: Limits where the shift appears in the system
Only Dispatch Trucks: Limits which trucks appear on the shift
They sound similar, but they control different things — this guide explains what each one does.
Navigation
To access these settings:
Go to: MMS > Shifts > Add/Edit Shifts
Scroll to the Info and What sections
✅ Dispatch Only
What It Does | Example Use |
Makes the shift visible only in dispatch-related views | Use for recurring shifts that are only used for planning and dispatching |
The shift will NOT appear on: Today’s Shifts, Completed Shifts, Real-Time or Executive Scoreboards, Job Summary, First Load, or Shift Note reports | A foreman does not need to see this shift, but dispatchers do |
It will appear in: Scheduled Shifts, Order Dispatch, Fulfill Dispatch, Dispatch Assignment, Dispatch Request, and Day of Actuals | Used when you want to order and manage trucks without KPI tracking |
Use this if you only need the shift for dispatching and not for tracking.
✅ Only Dispatch Trucks
What It Does | Example Use |
Restricts the shift to only show trucks that were dispatched | Use when you want to exclude trucks that weren’t officially assigned |
Applies to LCA Graph, shift card counts, and shift tracking | Ensures only trucks from the dispatch list count toward KPIs |
Carries forward to future shifts unless manually unchecked | Used to keep shift data clean and aligned with the dispatch list |
Use this if you want the shift to exclude ad hoc or walk-on trucks.
