Introduction:

The Assign Trailer(s) to Tractor feature allows users to assign Trailers to Tractors (trucks) for better equipment management. Assigned Trailers will appear on the LCA graph. This feature is useful for shift ticket tracking and verifying third-party Trailer assignments.

Navigation:

To access this feature:

Go to: Manage > Equipment > Assign Trailer(s) to Tractor.

Trailer Setup and Visibility

Before using the Assign Trailer(s) to Tractor feature:

  1. Add the Trailer Equipment Type via Add/Edit Custom Equipment Type.

  2. Use Add/Edit Equipment to create trailers, selecting Trailer as the Custom Equipment Type.

Important Notes:

  • If no Trailer type equipment is set up, no trailers will appear on the Assign Trailer(s) to Tractor screen.

  • All Trailers and Tractors must be set to On-Road to display on the screen.

  • Users belonging to the Parent Company can view and manage all Trailers and Tractors, including third-party company equipment.

  • Third-party company users can see their own equipment and Parent Company equipment but cannot view or assign equipment from other third-party companies.

Page Details:

The green company-labeled buttons in the top-right are filters. When shaded green, the company’s trailers and tractors are displayed on the screen. Clicking a company filter button will turn it white, and those company’s trailers and tractors will no longer be listed on the screen. Simply click the company button again to re-list their equipment

Unassigned tractors and trailers are listed on the top-half of the screen, and Assigned tractors and trailers on the bottom half.

Two fuzzy-search fields, one for tractors and the other for trailers, allow particular pieces to be quickly identified.

Assigning a Trailer to a Tractor:

  1. Using the top right window of Green Highlighted companies, deselect or select specific Companies to filter your search or use the fuzzy search box to locate the trailer or tractor.

    1. Users can move trailers to a tractor or a tractor to trailers.

  2. Hover the mouse over the unassigned trailer and it will turn yellow indicating this is your selection.

  3. Left click and drag the trailer to a tractor.

  4. When the selected trailer is hovering over the tractor, the tractor will highlight in blue.

  5. Release the mouse button and the assigned trailer and tractor will appear under the Assigned section.

Assigning Multiple Trailers to 1 Tractor:

Users can assign multiple trailers to 1 tractor but only 1 tractor can be assigned to a trailer.

  1. Use the fuzzy search to locate the Assigned Tractor on the right side of the screen under the list of Unassinged tractors.

  2. Under Unassigned trailers, hover the mouse over the trailer, it will turn yellow, left click and drag to the tractor, it will turn blue, and release.

  3. The new assignment will appear in the Assigned Trailers and Tractors section.

  4. Repeat these steps to assign additional trailers to 1 tractor.

To Unassign Tractors or Trailers:

  1. Use the fuzzy search to locate the tractor or trailer.

  2. The tractor or trailer will display a small X in the top right corner.

  3. Click the X.

  4. Both the tractor and trailer will fade and return to the list of unassigned.

  5. You will notice the assignment now removed from the Assigned Trailers/Tractors fields.

Additional Details and VST functionality:

  • When a Tractor and a Trailer are connected (assigned) or when there are multiple Trailers connected to a Tractor, they will display on the LCA graph.

  • When hovering over the Equipment’s name or clicking on the Equipment to see the Tabular Report, users will see all the trailers listed. For example: tractor / [trailer 1] / trailer 2). So if there are 2 trailers on a tractor, the one in brackets [ ] is the “main trailer” for that LCA line.

  • When choosing equipment for group animation, the drop-down will now show the full name of the truck, including the tractor/trailer(s) names.

  • For shift tickets created for Tractor/Trailer(s), the Edit screen displays the full Tractor/Trailer(s) name in the Equip Number column.

  • If there are multiple trailers on a tractor, only one shift ticket will be created for the driver of the tractor. For example, creating a Shift Ticket for one of the Tractor/Trailer combos on a LCA will automatically put any other Tractor/Trailer shift tickets in the Opened status because it is also connected to the same Tractor. The Shift Ticket will just include the time (and pay) worked by the tractor driver no matter how many trailers are connected (assigned).
