Introduction
The Upload Equipment Data page allows you to import multiple equipment records at once by uploading a CSV file that follows FleetWatcher’s required column format.
This is ideal for setting up a new account or performing large updates without manually entering each unit.

Known Values and Field Requirements
The following fields must match exactly with the values in your FleetWatcher dropdowns or the upload will fail:
Manufacturer Name
Manufacturer Type Name
Manufacturer Model Name
These are referred to as “known values” in the column header chart.
✔ To find the correct values:
Go to Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Equipment
Click the green Add Equipment button
Review the dropdown values in the popup for:
Manufacturer (column B)
Type (column R – labeled Manufacturer Type Name)
Model (column E)
🚫 These values cannot be created by customers.
➡️ Contact FleetWatcher Support to request new Manufacturer names, types, or models.
Customer-Editable Field
Custom Type Name (Column C), also labeled Equipment Type, is customer-created.
To add or edit values in this field:
Go to: Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Custom Equipment Type
Common Upload Error
Column B is called Manufacturer Name and Column R is called Manufacturer Type Name — this naming is confusing to customers, but will not be changed.
Use the screenshot above to see which column links to which dropdown. Errors often occur when this is misunderstood.
Additional Notes
All “User Defined Fields” are optional but must remain in the template for formatting consistency.
“Scale Asset Name” is used for scale system matching and may be left blank if unused.
If you copy data from another system, double-check the spelling, spacing, and casing of all known values.
