Introduction
Equipment View Restrictions give Admins precise control over equipment visibility for internal users without changing roles or permissions. Note: Driver visibility parameters are managed separately and are unaffected by these restrictions. Use group-level restrictions (By Title) for efficiency and individual sections (By Name) for fine-tuned control, and always remember to save your changes.
Important Scope Note: This feature applies exclusively to standard web-platform users (such as Dispatchers, Managers, and Field Users). It does not apply to Driver accounts, nor does it impact views within the FleetWatcher Driver application.
Navigation:
To access this feature:

Page Layout Overview
At the top of the page, you will see:
List User(s) options:
By Name – lists all users alphabetically
By Title – lists users grouped by title
Clear – clears the current user selection
Save – saves all restriction changes for the selected users
After selecting users, the page is divided into two areas:
Left side: Selected users
Right side: Equipment restriction panels for those users
Selecting Users
Click By Name or By Title.
Select one or multiple users from the list.
Click Select at the bottom of the dropdown.
The selected users will appear:
On the left side as user badges
On the right side as restriction panels
If only one user is selected, you will see:
Restricted from [First Last Name]
If multiple users are selected, you will see:
Restricted from all selected (group-level control)
Individual sections for each selected user below it
Understanding Group vs Individual Restrictions
Restricted from all selected
The Restricted from all selected section allows you to add or remove equipment restrictions for all selected users at once.
Changes here apply to every selected user
Existing individual restrictions are preserved
Any newly selected equipment is added to each user’s restricted list
This section is a convenience tool and does not replace individual user controls.
Individual user sections
Each user also has their own Restricted from [User Name] section.
Existing restricted equipment will automatically appear here when the user is selected
You can add or remove equipment for one user without affecting others
Individual changes remain even when group restrictions are applied
Restricting Equipment
In the appropriate section, click the blue plus (+) button.
Choose how to view equipment:
By Asset Name
Displays a list of all equipment assets
Allows selection of individual pieces of equipment
By Equipment Type
Displays equipment grouped by type (for example, Cars)
Clicking an Equipment Type selects all equipment under that type
Individual assets can still be unchecked later if needed
Select the desired equipment.
Click Select.
Visual indicators
Blue highlight: Equipment selected but not yet saved
Red highlight with checkmark: Equipment is restricted and saved
Click Save to apply the restrictions.
Once saved, the restricted equipment will no longer be visible to the selected user(s) anywhere in FleetWatcher.
Individual Edits:
Group Edits:
Removing Equipment Restrictions
Select the user(s) using By Name or By Title.
Locate the restricted equipment (shown in red).
Uncheck the equipment you want to restore.
Click Save.
Restrictions can be removed:
For all selected users using Restricted from all selected, or
For individual users using their specific section
Important Notes
There is no confirmation dialog when saving restrictions. The red highlight is the confirmation.
New equipment added to FleetWatcher is not automatically restricted. If it should be hidden, it must be manually restricted.
Restricted equipment is not deleted or deactivated. It is only hidden from the user’s view.
Troubleshooting
If a user reports missing equipment:
Verify whether Equipment View Restrictions are applied to that user
Check both group-level and individual user sections
Confirm the equipment was not newly added and left unrestricted
This page is a common cause of equipment appearing to “disappear” for users.
Asset Status
The system dynamically updates visibility based on equipment status. If a restricted asset is Retired, it is automatically removed from the restriction list. When that asset is set back to Active, it immediately reappears in the Restrict Equipment View list with its previous restriction settings intact.
Tip: If a restricted asset "disappears" from this menu, verify it hasn't been retired; reactivating the asset will restore its visibility here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this equipment restriction apply to Drivers? No. Restrict Equipment View is strictly for managing visibility for web-console users and has no effect on Driver mobile applications or driver-specific workflows.
