Introduction:
The Control Panel feature empowers users to customize and navigate the FleetWatcher Map according to their preferences and needs. This menu allows users to tailor their map view by selecting equipment types to monitor, adjusting geo-zone displays, labeling or clustering equipment, setting map refresh intervals, and customizing icon and font sizes. Additional options include viewing historical data by date and filtering equipment by Projects, Geo-Zone, Status, or Asset Type, ensuring a highly flexible and user-centric mapping experience.
Navigation:
To access this feature:
Go to: Map > Control Panel
Control Panel:
Each item will be explained below starting from the left side of the screen.
Control Panel: By clicking on the word "Control Panel" a popup window appears. The popup will display all your Projects, Geo-zones, Equipment Events, Equipment Types, and the Size of the icons on the map.
Note: Adjustments to Project filters will stay selected until the user refreshes the map or opens the control panel and selects SHOW ALL.
Note: Sometimes, customers may inadvertently click "Save View" while a Project or Geo-Zone filter is selected, causing that filter to load by default each time. To reset the Control Panel, guide customers to open it, select "SHOW ALL," and then click "Save Settings." This will clear the filter and restore the default view.
Control Panel allows users to fuzzy-search for Equipment Types in the By Type and events in the By Event filters. The search works like the existing Show Equipment In, Zoom on Geozones, and Show by Status filters. Click on the desired filter and start typing. Once a selection has been made, it will appear under the filter in red. If you select more than one, all selections will show under that filter. Click on the x to delete the last entered item. If you want to get rid of something previously selected, simply search for that item and then click it. It will then be deselected from the list and removed from the filter.
Equipment can be displayed on the Map by Equipment Icon or by Event Icon. The user can choose this by selecting the Use Icons under each section then click Apply in the bottom right corner of the Control Panel.
By Type (button): User Icons: If applied, equipment icons will be represented by their type.
By Event (button): Use Icons: If applied, equipment icons will be represented by their most recent event.
By Type (Equipment): Allows you to select individual, some, or all equipment types to display on the Map. This can be useful for individuals who want to monitor specific types of equipment.
Eq Event: Allows you to change the equipment icon to the last reported event. This can be useful to search equipment in Transport Update or Engine Turned Off.
Note: Equipment Icons are selected under Add/Edit Equipment Types. If you need to update the icon navigate to Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Equipment Types.
Geozone Display: Red toggle = On. Grey toggle = Off.
Show Polygons: Polygons (geo-zones) are digital barriers created on the Map. Use this toggle to hide or view all geo-zones.
Note: To remove a jobsite geo-zone from the Map after completing a project, retire the associated project. This action will hide the geo-zone from the map while preserving its historical data for future reference.
Show Geozone Pins: Geo-zone Pins will be hidden by default. If selected, geo-zones are represented by the pin icon.
Historical View: (Equipment only): Select this toggle to open a date and time box. Enter the date and time you wish to review then click Apply. The Map will display “Getting Historical Data” at the bottom of the Map. Once the historical data has been retrieved, the map will display “Historical Equipment data from (date selected).
To reset the Map you have two options: open the Control Panel, deselect the Historical View toggle, and click Apply, or refresh the map by selecting Map from the top navigation menu.
Equipment Display
Label Equipment: If the box is checked the Map will display the Asset Name of the equipment. If the box is unchecked the name of the equipment will be removed.
Cluster Equipment: Use this to cluster equipment. Geo-zones and Equipment in close proximity will be clustered when the map is zoomed out. As users zoom in to a particular map region, the clustering will adjust. Once zoomed in so far, all Geo-zone and Equipment clustering will be removed and each individual geo-zone or equipment icon will be displayed.
Icon Colorings:
Blue: 2-9
Yellow: 10-99
Red: 100+
Last 24th events only: allows users to limit the equipment shown on the map to only those that have been active within the last 24 hours.
Note: After making any adjustments or changes in the Control Panel, users must click Apply to update the Map and view the changes.
Show Equipment In: Display Equipment assigned to a Project:
If equipment is assigned to the selected project, ONLY the assigned equipment will display on the Map view.
If no equipment is assigned to the project, a message will appear "No equipment matches these criteria"
Zoom on Geozones: Used to center the Map view on the Geo-zone:
The Map will center on the selected Geo-zone. Use this to navigate directly to a geo-zone.
Analyze in Assigned: Use this feature to filter equipment based on whether it is located in or not in its assigned geo-zone.
Use Icons Button: Click this button to apply visual indicators—equipment inside the assigned geo-zone will appear with a green icon, while equipment outside will display a red icon.
In Assigned Geo-Zone: Enable this toggle to view equipment that is both assigned to a project and physically located within the project’s geo-zone.
Not in Assigned Geo-Zone: Enable this toggle to view equipment assigned to a project but currently outside its assigned geo-zone.
Note: After making any adjustments or changes in the Control Panel, users must click Apply to update the Map and view the changes.
Show by Status: The Custom Status feature, primarily used by Off-Road customers, allows users to set equipment statuses (e.g., shop, maintenance, active) with corresponding colors, providing a visual cue on the homepage, and can be linked to geozones for automatic status changes based on location. Manage > Equipment > Add/Edit Equipment Status.
Select the circle next to Show Status, Hide Status, or Status Only.
Show Asset Type: This feature enables users to filter and view specific categories of equipment, such as All Equipment, On-Road, Off-Road, or BLE Asset. This is particularly useful for users who need to focus on a single type of equipment, allowing for more streamlined tracking and decision-making without distractions from unrelated assets.
Auto-Refresh Rate: The FleetWatcher Map provides a live view of active equipment and refreshes automatically based on the selected rate of 1 minute (default) or 5 minutes. A countdown timer, displayed at the bottom center of the map, tracks the time until the next refresh. Users can disable the auto-refresh feature if needed; in this case, the map must be refreshed manually by selecting Map from the top navigation menu.
Icon Size: Use this to adjust the size of the equipment icons.
Label Zoom: Use this to adjust the font size of the Geo-zone text on the homescreen. If the customer is unable to see the geo-zone labels reduce the font size to 12.
Saved View/Save Settings:
Saved View Functionality: The Saved View button, used alongside Save Settings, allows users to personalize their map view by saving a specific location. For example, a plant operator might save the view focused on their plant, while a mechanic could save the view of the maintenance shop.
To save a location, navigate to the desired area on the map and click Save Settings. If the user navigates away, clicking Saved View will return the map to the last saved location. Additionally, any settings configured in the Control Panel are saved when Save Settings is used.
Follow Find:
The Follow Find tool allows users to zoom in and track a specific piece of equipment in real time.
To use this feature:
Click Follow Find to open the popup window, which displays a list of active equipment.
Use the search box at the top to locate equipment by name or scroll through the list.
Select the circle next to the desired asset name to begin following it.
The popup will close, and the map will center on the selected equipment, opening its equipment card.
At the bottom of the map, you’ll see the refresh timer, and the asset name of the tracked equipment will appear on the right with an X.
To stop following, click the X next to the asset name, and the map will cease tracking the equipment.
Asset Search (Map Search):
The Map Search tool allows users to quickly locate equipment on the map using various filters. This feature supports searches by individual equipment, equipment types, projects, or companies.
To use a filter:
Click the dropdown menu, select an option, and a list of equipment related to that filter will appear.
Users can click on an asset name to center the map on that specific piece of equipment or choose Show on Map to center the map on all filtered equipment.
At the bottom of the search box, the Results section displays the total number of items found.
Additionally, users can clear their filters using the Clear Filters button or close the search window by clicking Close.
Homepage:
On: Map will be the default homepage.
Off: Dashboard will be the default homepage.
Eye icon – “This is not currently visible due to user settings”
In the map asset search, an eye‑with‑slash icon next to an asset means:
The asset exists and matches your search.
It is not shown on the map because your current map control panel filters are hiding it.
To see the asset on the map:
Clear or adjust the filters on the map control panel (for example: Types, Projects, Companies, or other map filters).
Re‑search for the asset in the asset search box.
Once the asset is included in your map filters, the eye icon will disappear and the marker will be visible.
Note: Clearing filters in the search box alone does not change map visibility. The icon is driven by the map control panel filters.
