Camera Footage

Find, review, and download the video clips your team has requested from Camera Trips.

Overview of the Camera Footage Page

The Camera Footage page serves as the centralized management log and library for all video retrieval requests across your fleet:

Navigation

Go to: Cameras > Footage

Search Bar: Located at the top left, you can search for specific drivers or vehicles by name.

Month Selection: Located to the right of the Search Bar: use the left and right arrows to switch between months.

Delete Footage

  1. Click the 3 dots to the left of the Status. A Delete button will appear.

  2. Click Delete. A popup will appear.

  3. Click Delete. The video will be deleted from your list.

Warning: Deleting footage is permanent and cannot be undone. If you need this video later, you will have to re-create it from the original camera footage.

Camera Footage

Each row in the table represents a single trip and includes:

  • Status: This column shows the “create video” status. (Upcoming or Completed)

    • A clip's status will show as "Upcoming" while the video is still being created behind the scenes, and will switch to "Completed" once it's ready to watch or download.

  • Retrieved: The date and time the footage was retrieved.

  • Driver: The name of the operator assigned to the trip.

  • Assigned Vehicle: The specific vehicle used for the journey.

  • Start: Precise timestamps for when the trip began and concluded.

  • Device: The unique ID of the camera hardware.

Settings and Filtering

Use the right-hand sidebar to narrow down your results. After selecting your criteria, click the Apply button to refresh the list.

Settings

You can adjust the time frame of the data shown using the Settings dropdown. Options include:

  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly: Quick presets for standard reporting.

  • Custom: Select a specific date range to find historical data.

Filters:

  • Device / Equipment / Driver Dropdowns: Filter the list to a specific device ESN, asset name or a particular driver to audit their performance.

Usability notes:

  • Filters update the trip/footage list immediately, so you can iterate quickly.

  • Filters can be combined to get very precise results.

Why Some Footage Shows “View Trips” and Some Does Not

The display of the “View Trip” / “View Trips” link is strictly determined by trip association:

Scenario

"View Trips" Displayed?

Reason & Functionality

Footage Requested from a Trip

YES

When footage is requested directly from the Camera Trips screen (via the Retrieve Footage slider on a specific trip row), the video request is stamped with that trip's unique trip_id. Clicking “View Trip” takes you directly back to that specific trip on the Camera Trips page so you can inspect the map route, breadcrumbs, speed profile, and engine telematics.

Footage Requested Without a Trip (Non-Trip / Ad-Hoc)

NO

When footage is requested for a time period where no formal trip record exists (e.g., stationary idling in a yard, maintenance, unassigned equipment time, or when motion thresholds for trip creation were not triggered), there is no trip_id linked to the request. Because there is no corresponding trip object in the system, the UI omits the “View Trip” button.
