Add / Edit Drivers

The Add/Edit Drivers page is used to create new drivers, edit details of existing drivers, or set Drivers as Inactive.

Introduction:

In order to set up the FleetWatcher Driver Safety and/or AaaD feature, a driver profile is required. Drivers are assigned to equipment by using the FleetWatcher Driver app or manually by using Assign Drivers to Equipment.

Navigation:

To access this feature:

Go to: Manage > People > Add/Edit Drivers

NOTE: When the screen loads it will default to the Add Drivers tab. Select Edit Drivers to update driver details or reset the driver’s password.


Add Drivers:

  1. Enter the drivers first and last name.

  2. Company: Select the company from the drop down menu.

    1. Navigate to: Manage > Company > Add/Edit Companies to add additional companies.

  3. Email (lower case):

    1. The Driver and other User Accounts setup in FleetWatcher must all have unique Emails. The Email and Password are the driver’s credentials for logging into the Driver App.

  4. Contact Method: Preferred communication with the driver. SMS, Email, or Both

  5. Status: Set to Active. Driver profiles can be in an Active or Inactive status.

    1. If drivers are in an inactive status they are unable to log into the Driver app.

  6. App Password: Create a temporary password for the driver. Check the box next to Reset Password on Next Login. The driver will log in with the temporary password, then prompted to create a new password.

    1. Passwords must be at least 8 characters and cannot contain spaces.

  7. Click Add Driver.


Edit Drivers:

Admins can edit a driver profile by clicking the Edit Drivers tab.

A list of Active Drivers will be displayed on the bottom left and Inactive Drivers on the bottom right.

To Edit an active driver:

  1. Select the drivers name from the Active Drivers list.

  2. The driver's information will appear in the top section.

  3. Make changes as needed.

  4. Click Edit Driver: (Drivers name) to save the changes.


Inactive Drivers:

Users can activate an inactive driver with the following steps.

  1. Search the driver’s name in the Inactive Drivers list and click on the driver’s name.

  2. Make changes as needed.

  3. Change the Status to Active.

  4. Click Edit Driver (Drivers name).


Driving for Multiple Haulers or Brokers:

I am a driver that has been hired by two different brokers / hired haulers and have been asked to use the Driver App to track my activity.

How do I switch between the two separate brokers or hired haulers?

  1. The driver will need to have separate Driver App logins for each broker or hired hauler they work for.

  2. Once they have completed work for the first broker or hired hauler the driver will need to select "leave truck" then logout of the Driver App.

  3. Then sign into the Driver App with the login credentials for the second broker or hired hauler and select the truck to start driving.


Additional Details (optional):

The following information provides additional details about each driver and will appear on the Drivers Report. (Fleet > Drivers > Drivers Report).

  • Employee ID: freeform field.

  • License Type: Select the type of CDL license. CDL Class A, B, or C.

  • License Expiry: Enter the date the CDL license will expire.

  • Mobile Phone: When the driver is coupled or has selected a truck, the phone number will display on the truck icon from the Map view and mobile app.

  • Divisions: Select the appropriate company if applicable.

  • Contact Method: Email & SMS, will be the initial (default) setting for all existing driver accounts, but it may be set to SMS (only) or Email (only) as needed.

    • Note: If the driver does not have a valid Mobile Phone number entered, they will not receive text messages with the default Email & SMS Contact Method.

    • Either enter a valid mobile number or change the preferred contact method to Email.

    • The Dispatch Request Assign Drivers and Notify Assigned Drivers drop-downs will present the selected contact method(s) for the driver. For example, if Driver A has SMS selected and Driver B has SMS & Email selected, Driver A’s phone number will appear in the dropdown and Driver B’s phone number and email will appear in the dropdown.

  • Reset Password on Next Login: Use this checkbox to force the user to reset their password on the next login.

  • Grant Driver Application Access: (only check if the driver will use the Driver App for AaaD.

    • This is a paid feature that allows the Driver app to act like a FleetWatcher device. Can be used for Internal and 3rd Party equipment.

  • App Password: Manually Set or Reset Drivers Password.

    • When a password is specified, then this new user's password for the Fleetwatcher Driver App will be set. Passwords must be at least 8 characters and cannot contain spaces.

  • Authorizations:Select the type of equipment the driver can operate.
