The TCpT KPI measures how much it costs to haul each ton of material on a shift. This includes trucking time, load count, and tonnage. It helps you determine whether your trucking plan is cost-effective based on actual job performance.

Definition

TCpT | Average trucking cost per ton of material delivered during the shift |
How It's Calculated
TCpT is calculated as:
(Total Trucking Cost ÷ Total Tons Hauled)Trucking cost is based on:
Hourly, per-ton, or per-load equipment pay rates
Total truck hours worked during the shift
Tonnage from scale tickets or equipment load capacity
Individual truck TCpT is also calculated and averaged across the shift
Why It Matters
Reveals whether your current fleet size and performance are cost-effective
Helps compare vendor efficiency or job phases
A critical KPI for profitability and job costing
Color Coding
Color | Meaning |
🟢 Green | Cost per ton is below target (more efficient) |
🟡 Yellow | Close to expected range |
🔴 Red | Cost per ton is high or off target |
