Feet per Minute (FpM) KPI

Track how fast your paving crew is laying material by measuring paver movement over time.

Introduction

The FpM KPI measures the speed at which the paver is moving during a shift. It’s used on paving shifts with a paver set as the Destination, and helps ensure your crew is laying material at the expected rate.

Navigation

You can view FpM on:

  • Today’s Shifts – Appears in the KPI section for paving shifts

  • Completed Shifts – View final paving speed

  • Mainline Paving Calculator – Contributes to yield tracking

KPI

Description

Feet per Minute (FpM)

Measures the average distance the paver travels per minute during active paving time

How It's Calculated

  • Based on GPS movement from the Destination equipment (paver)

  • Excludes periods when the paver is stopped or repositioning

  • Rolling FpM updates in real time during the shift

Repositioning is determined using the FpM non-paving speed threshold set in Add/Edit Equipment (default is 100 FpM)

Why It Matters

  • Confirms that paving is happening at the right speed

  • Helps identify slowdowns or excessive repositioning

  • Supports quality and yield analysis when paired with width, weight, and depth

Color Coding

Color

Meaning

🟢 Green

Paver speed is within expected range

🟡 Yellow

Slightly fast or slow

🔴 Red

Outside of acceptable paving speed

Thresholds are based on the project plan or your FpM Target (if set)

Notes

  • Only available when a paver is selected as the Destination

  • Appears in both Today’s Shifts and the Mainline Paving Calculator
