Introduction
The Alternate Brokers page allows users to share trucks or drivers with other companies while preserving broker visibility and session tracking. Once set, alternate brokers give drivers the option to operate under another broker, while still using their company-assigned truck. This configuration affects what drivers see in the Driver App, how equipment is listed, and how dispatchers assign resources.
Navigation
To access this feature:
Go to: Manage > MMS > Alternate Broker
Driver App Configs
This tab allows users to assign alternate brokers to drivers and equipment so that alternate company use can be tracked and selected within the Driver App.
Select Equipment and/or Drivers
Use the Company filter to narrow the list of drivers or equipment (optional)
Use the Choose Equipment and Choose Drivers dropdowns to make selections
Selecting any driver or equipment activates the View > button
Click View > to see the current alternate broker assignments
You can select multiple drivers or equipment across companies. If multiple are selected, FleetWatcher will show:
A shared list of common alternate brokers
A breakdown of individual alternate broker assignments if they differ
Edit Alternate Broker Information
Common Alternate Brokers
Use the “Edit Common Alternate Brokers” dropdown to assign or remove brokers for all selected drivers or equipment. Removing a broker from this dropdown deletes the assignment for all selected items.
Individual Alternate Brokers
These show only when a broker is unique to a specific item in your selection. You can remove that broker to clear the assignment just for that driver or equipment.
Choose Equipment
Use this section to assign specific trucks to alternate brokers:
Select equipment from the Choose Equipment dropdown
Click View
Search for the broker name in the right-hand panel
Click the broker name to assign it (will appear in a grey box)
In the Driver App:
That truck will now appear in the equipment list of drivers associated with the alternate broker.
Choose Driver
Use this section to allow a driver to work under an alternate broker using their own truck:
Select a driver name
Click View
Search and select the alternate broker
This allows the driver to use their vehicle while appearing under the selected broker’s name in VSTs.
Note: This does not give the driver access to the broker’s trucks — only the driver’s own truck is used.
Effects on the Driver App
When drivers are assigned alternate brokers, the Start Driving screen prompts them to choose between:
Their native broker (set in Add/Edit Drivers)
Any alternate brokers assigned
If the driver selects an alternate broker, this creates a history entry for reporting.
If no alternate brokers are assigned, the Driver App defaults to the native broker with no prompt.
View Alternate Broker History
After selecting a driver or equipment and clicking View >, you’ll see a View History button
The date range defaults to the last 7 days
If history exists, a table will appear
If not, a message will indicate no results were found
Create, Edit, or Delete History Records
Admins may manually add or correct alternate broker history:
Click Create to open a form
Choose the driver or equipment, alternate broker, and the time frame
The system checks:
That the selection is not native to the broker
That the time frame does not overlap with other entries
Edit allows time frame or broker corrections.
Delete removes the record.
Overlapping records must be resolved before adding new ones.
Dispatch Request Configs
This tab allows you to share drivers and trucks with another company to support Dispatch Requests.
How to Share Units for Dispatch:
Select a Provider and Recipient company
Choose Equipment and/or Drivers
Click Submit to share access
The shared assets will now be visible to the recipient during Dispatch Requests.
Shared Units
Shared assets appear in the Shared Units list
You can Group by Provider or Recipient
Columns include:
Provider Name / Recipient Name
Shared Asset Count
Shared Drivers Count
Start Date
Action Buttons (Cancel All Unit Sharing or Remove Unit)
FleetWatcher will:
Block removal if a unit is already assigned to a shift
Warn if a shared asset is in conflict during dispatch approval
