How to Create a Simple Dispatch (Web)

A Simple Dispatch is used when you need to create a quick truck request without completing a full dispatch order.

Introduction:

A Simple Dispatch is used when you need to create a quick truck request without completing a full dispatch order. This option is useful when a shift already exists and you need to attach a simple request to it, or when no shift exists and the dispatcher will build the shift manually.

Navigation

  1. Go to MMS > Dispatch > Dispatch Board.

  2. At the top left, click New Order.

  3. Select Simple Dispatch.

This opens the Simple Dispatch form.

Required Fields

The following fields must be completed before submitting:

  • Shift Date

  • Start Time

  • Number of Trucks

  • Source or Source Description

  • Destination or Destination Description

Optional fields include:

  • Mix

  • Comments

  • Is this a shift?

Step 1: Select Whether This Is Part of a Shift

You must choose one of two paths:

Path A: “Yes” — Attach to an Existing Shift

If you select Yes under Is this a shift?:

  1. A dropdown will appear showing Existing Shifts for [Date].

  2. Select the shift you want the request to attach to.

  3. Complete any optional fields, such as Mix or Comments.

When submitted:

  • The Simple Dispatch request goes to the dispatcher’s notification inbox.

  • The request becomes part of the selected shift.

  • The shift will activate if it was not already activated.

Path B: “No” — Create a Stand-Alone Request

If you select No:

  1. Choose a Source Project and Destination Project,
    or enter Source/Destination descriptions manually.

  2. Complete any optional fields, including Mix and Comments.

When submitted:

  • The request is sent to the dispatcher’s notification inbox.

  • Because it is not tied to a shift, the dispatcher will create or complete the order.

  • It will appear in the Manual Shift section at the bottom of the Dispatch Board page.

Step 2: Submit the Request

  1. Review all required fields.

  2. Click Order Simple Dispatch.

After clicking submit:

  • The request is finalized and cannot be edited on this screen.

Editing a Simple Dispatch

  • You can only edit the Simple Dispatch before clicking Order Simple Dispatch.

  • After submission, any edits must be made by the dispatcher through the normal fulfill/edit workflow.
