Introduction:
Simple Dispatch requests are submitted from the web or the mobile app and appear in the Notification Inbox for the dispatcher to process. Each request must be converted into either an existing shift or a manual shift.
Where Simple Dispatch Requests Appear
Simple Dispatch requests are received in the Notification Inbox.
To open the inbox:
Look at the top right of the FleetWatcher web page.
The Notification Inbox icon appears between the Search field and your user profile icon.
Click the envelope icon to open the Notification Inbox.
All Dispatch requests display under Dispatch Orders inside the inbox.
Each request displays:
The requested truck count
The source and destination
The requested start date and time
The name of the user who submitted it (mobile or web)
“From: you” if the dispatcher created it
Open a Simple Dispatch Request
Click a request from the Dispatch Orders list.
The request details appear on the right side of the Notification Inbox.
If the request has not been converted, the message “No shift created/assigned yet; is this an existing shift?” will be shown.
Convert the Request
You must choose one of two options:
Path A: Convert to an Existing Shift
Use this option when the request should be added to a shift that already exists.
Under Yes, open the Pick a Shift dropdown.
Select the correct active shift.
Verify the Start Date/Time.
Click Choose.
After clicking Choose:
The request is bound to the selected shift immediately.
The inbox item updates to show the shift name.
The shift now contains the Simple Dispatch order.
The dispatcher may edit the order or fulfill it as needed.
Mobile behavior:
The request remains under New Orders until the dispatcher completes the order.
Once the order is created, it moves to Current Shifts or Upcoming Shifts.
Path B: Convert to a Manual Shift
Use this option when no shift exists for the request.
Under No, click Manual Shift.
A new Manual Shift is created at the bottom of the Dispatch Board page.
The dispatcher must open the Manual Shift and complete the order.
After conversion:
The request is considered processed in the inbox.
The new Manual Shift appears alongside other manual shifts for further editing and fulfillment.
Mobile behavior:
The request remains under New Orders until the dispatcher completes the manual shift order.
Once completed, it appears under Current or Upcoming Shifts.
Inbox Status Indicators
Simple Dispatch requests use two visual states:
Grey background with a red circle
Indicates a new or unprocessed request.Yellow background with a green checkmark
Indicates the request has been converted to a shift or manual shift.
These indicators help dispatchers identify which requests still require action.
Multiple Requests
Each Simple Dispatch request is processed individually. Converting one request has no effect on the others.
What Information Carries Over
When a request is converted:
Truck count
Start date and time
Source
Destination
Comments
Submitted-by user information
All of these are transferred automatically.
Dispatchers can update the order after conversion through the standard editing process.
Editing After Conversion
Requests cannot be edited inside the Notification Inbox.
Once converted, the dispatcher edits the order through the shift (Edit Order) or through the Manual Shift workflow.
