View all connected cameras, check their status, assigned vehicles, and app versions, and manage device settings in one place.

Introduction

FleetWatcher’s Camera System introduces an integrated, insurance-grade video monitoring solution designed for mixed construction fleets. Companies can record, view, and manage safety-related events including impact, harsh braking, distraction, and fatigue directly within FleetWatcher’s familiar interface.

The camera platform focuses on proof, protection, and practicality, providing full event visibility, simple setup, and deep integration with existing FleetWatcher tracking hardware. It replaces standalone GPS and camera systems with a single connected platform to support claim defense, compliance, and proactive safety management.

Devices

The Devices tab gives users a clear overview of all connected cameras in their fleet. Each entry displays essential details like the device name, assigned vehicle, and app version. To help teams monitor equipment health, the Status column features live indicators:

  • Green Circle: The camera is Online.

  • Red Circle: The camera is Offline.

With the search bar and settings button located in the top right corner, it’s simple to filter your list or modify camera configurations without leaving the page.


Viewing Camera Details

Click on any camera in the list to open the Camera Details window. This view displays key information about the selected device, including the Device Name, Status, Device ID, Device Mode, Assigned Vehicle, First Connected date, and App Version.

The Camera Details view is read-only, allowing you to quickly confirm device information without making changes or leaving the Cameras page.


Camera Settings Reference Guide

General tab:

The General tab manages the hardware's physical behavior and default recording state.

  • System Sub-Tab

    • Device Volume: Adjusts the loudness of the speaker inside the vehicle cabin for real-time alerts.

    • Parking Photo: Determines which cameras trigger a still image when the vehicle is stationary. (Options: All, Road Facing, Off).

  • Video Recording Sub-Tab

    • Record Sound: When enabled, the camera captures audio inside the cabin.

    • Video Snapshots: When enabled, the system captures periodic still images alongside standard video.


Events tab:

Each category below can be toggled On/Off via the red switch. Use the Light/Medium/Heavy buttons at the top of the Events tab to apply pre-configured sensitivity levels across all triggers.

Impact

  • Sensitivity: Separate sliders for Driving Impact and Parking Impact. Higher sensitivity triggers alerts for minor bumps; lower sensitivity requires a significant G-force event.

  • Event Recording:

    • Pre-Event Duration: Number of seconds recorded before the impact is detected.

    • Post-Event Duration: Number of seconds recorded after the impact.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert to notify the driver immediately upon impact detection.

Harsh Driving

  • Sensitivity: Detailed KPH thresholds for three types of movement:

    • Harsh Acceleration

    • Harsh Braking

    • Harsh Cornering

  • Event Recording: Adjustable Pre-event and Post-event timers to capture the context of the maneuver.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert.

Sleepy (Eye Close) / Fatigue

  • Sensitivity: Adjusts how quickly the AI identifies signs of driver drowsiness or closed eyes.

  • Auto Upload to Portal: Choose whether the system sends a Video clip or a Snapshot to the dashboard when fatigue is detected.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert (crucial for waking/alerting a fatigued driver).

Distracted

  • Sensitivity: Adjusts the threshold for when the AI determines the driver is looking away from the road (e.g., at a phone or side window).

  • Event Recording: Sets the clip length for the distraction event.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert.

Seat Belt Unfastened

  • Sensitivity: AI threshold for recognizing the seat belt position.

  • Auto Upload to Portal: Determines if a Video or Snapshot of the violation is sent to the manager.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert.

Speed Camera Violation

  • Speed Threshold: Define the KPH/MPH limit (e.g., above 10 kph / 6.2 mph).

  • Auto Upload: Select upload type based on severity (Minor, Moderate, Major).

  • Alerts: Toggle alerts for Approaching a traffic sign versus Violating the signal.

Rolling Stop

  • Event Recording: Capture the approach and the failure to stop.

  • Auto Upload: Choose Video or Snapshot.

  • Alerts: Toggle for In-cabin Audio Alert for signal violations.


How to Apply Changes

  1. Select a Profile: Click Light, Medium, or Heavy to instantly update all sensitivity and recording durations to recommended levels.

  2. Manual Override: You can still manually move any slider or change any timer after selecting a profile.

  3. Save: You must click the Save button in the top right corner to push these settings to the cameras in your fleet.


Filtering Camera Results

You can use the Filters icon (three horizontal lines) to narrow your camera list by Status or Device Mode.

When you click the filter icon, the Filters panel appears on the right side of the screen. From here, you can choose filter options and apply them to the camera list.

Under Status, you can filter cameras by Online or Offline. Selecting Online will show only devices currently connected (indicated by a green circle).

Under Device Mode, choose whether to view In-Cabin, Forward, or Rear camera devices.

Once you’ve made your selections, click Apply to update the list. You can also click Reset Filters to clear your selections and return to the full camera list.


Live Feeds

The Live Feeds tab on the Cameras page provides a multi‑camera “control room” view so users can quickly see what’s happening across all online cameras without opening them one by one.

What Live Feeds Shows

  • A grid of camera tiles, one tile per camera that is currently online.

  • Each tile displays a snapshot image taken from that camera.

  • The grid automatically refreshes based on the Refresh Rate you choose.

This is designed for quick situational awareness across many cameras at once (yard/plant/terminal overview, quick safety checks, etc.).

Refresh Rate

On the Live Feeds tab, the Refresh Rate dropdown controls how often the system automatically grabs a new snapshot image for each camera while the auto‑scroll (“play”) feature is running.

  • The Live View tab shows a grid of snapshots taken live from the cameras.

  • There is an auto‑scrolling feature that starts when you hit the Play button.

  • The page lets users change the refresh rate for that auto‑scroll.

  • Separately, the whole page also does a background refresh every 5 minutes to add/remove cameras that come online/offline — that part is not controlled by the dropdown.

So in practice:

  • Selecting 60 / 90 / 120 seconds = how often each camera snapshot will be re‑requested and updated in the grid while the live feed auto‑scroll is running.

  • It does not change how often cameras are discovered/removed.


Live Feeds vs. Live View

Live Feeds works together with Live View, but they serve different purposes:

  • Live Feeds (this tab)

    • Multiple cameras at once.

    • Periodic snapshot images that update based on the Refresh Rate.

    • Best for broad monitoring (e.g., yard, plant, or site overview).

  • Live View (per‑camera streaming view)

    • A single camera at a time with continuous video.

    • Accessed from:

      • The Cameras page by selecting a camera for Live View, or

      • The Camera Trips page (for “In Progress” trips) via the “Live Feed” button next to “Retrieve Footage”.

    • Best for detailed, real‑time troubleshooting or watching a specific event.

When to use which:

  • Start on Live Feeds to scan many cameras quickly.

  • Click into a single camera for a Live View.


Authorization Role

To access this feature you must have the Cameras checked under Manage > Devices.


To review each recorded event Navigate to: Fleet > Driver Safety > Camera Events
